I listen to a lot of music. I've shared a little bit of what I like, but honestly my taste is all over the board when it comes to this part of my life. The last music I danced to, Shakira. The last show I went to, Dead Prez. The last album I downloaded, Washed Out. The last cd in my car, a mix by my friend Alex. Scattered. Eclectic. Multifarious. You get the idea.

I think Sam Philips had great taste in music, but he also took advantage of tons of the artists he signed. Sun Records was a powerhouse of early black music but when it came to rights and publishing, Sam really was ruthless. So many black artists he signed were penniless while Sam got rich for years off them (and his estate continues to while a few of the men he signed died homeless). He had the shrewd sense to know who to sign when like when he spent years looking for his "Elvis", but that doesn't make what he did forgivable nor did it show any type of "respect".
