Let's Bring Back
October 20, 2010
Being a nostalgist myself, I am thoroughly looking forward to this book. It comes out just after I leave the country, so I'm afraid her column will have to suffice til I return next Spring. Does anyone out there follow Ms. Blume's column, Let's Bring Back, on the Huffington Post?
Parisian Treasure Trove
October 13, 2010
Sunday afternoon, my friend Dana took me over to Bow to check out a cafe she had been raving about for quite some time. Over what was one of the most delicious breakfasts I've had in quite some time, she asked if I had heard about a recently discovered Parisian flat, one that had been abandoned for 70 years. I had no idea what she was talking but of course I was intrigued. I love this sort of news and she, being like-minded in spirit, knew this and sent me the article she came across written by the Telegraph.
Just before the start of WWII, the grandaughter of actress Marthe de Florian fled her Parisian apartment for the south of France never to return. The part that I find so strange is that for 70 years she continued to pay rent for a flat she nor anyone else ever put to use. Why did she leave? Why did she never return? Just a few simple questions to which I would love the answers.
When she recently passed away, the apartment was finally opened up and a remarkable world of cob-webbed beauty uncovered. Amoung the antiquated treausures were stacks of love letters from lovers and admirers including artists and politicians. Swoon. These are the discoveries a girl dreams of coming across.

Super Sale Mode
October 11, 2010
This week begins operation downsizing both in the shop and my personal closet. Tonight I'll be putting the shop in super sale mode, meaning everything in the shop will be $15 and under! Some crazy deals are to be had...A $15 vintage wedding gown! How amazing would that be to say you bought your wedding dress for $15?

As far as my personal closet goes, well that's a surprise I'll save for later in the week! Now off to run the dreaded errands necessary in selling my Jeep. Cringe.

Bits of Love
October 10, 2010
Can you tell I'm ready to get this travel show on the road? Just three short weeks...Three. Short. Weeks.

shading the sunlight
(in hopes of easing squinty face)

tracing maps, wearing pretty dresses and winding locks of hair
(though maybe or maybe not in that order)

dreaming in color
(airplanes and all)

hiding behind cameras
(hearing the calming click of the shutter)

finding the perfect reading
(for a road soon to be traveled)

Lazy Caramel Apple Pie
October 9, 2010
Living in the Northwest, dreary overcast days are to be expected. And quite a lot at that! Sometimes these type of days...

Require nothing more than lazy bakin' and wine drinkin'. Today was and is one of those days! Please note: The generally delicious and always budget friendly, Charles Shaw, is not pictured below. You will find, however, a yummy homemade apple pie.

Voila. The lazy gals caramel apple pie...So much so that I couldn't even bother to make my own crust. And on top of that, I was actually a little upset when I found out my pre-made crust had to be put into it's own pie pan adding extra work for me. Talk about LAY-Z!
