Le Mont St Michel Fall Winter 2010

September 28, 2010
Now that I'm excited about Fall collections, I'm heading to a tropical climate. How is that for timing? I'm convinced that's how things usually go though. I have about one month to bundle up in layers and the Le Mont St. Michel Fall Winter 2010 collection has me inspired to do exactly that.

I never thought I would be into Southwestern prints and must say I'm surprised that I'm liking that Southwestern print jacket and scarf shown above. While I know I would never infiltrate my wardrobe with the designs, a few pieces here and there wouldn't be all that bad. Unfortunately that's not going to happen for me right now as all my extra cash will be going toward my flight to Thailand. I suppose I'll just have to see what I can pull out of my tiny closet!

Driftwood & Oaks

September 24, 2010
A quick post for ya'll because tonight is my last night in Texas for awhile and I don't want to spend too much time behind the computer. However I've got a few spare minutes and I had to show off the sweetest dress my mom let me borrow while I was here. It's actually up in her shop Deoma's Boutique and she's calling it the Indian Summer Dress because it's perfect for transitioning into Fall, especially if you happen to be down in the South!

It's been such a lovely trip, filled to the brim with fun as you may have guessed from my lack of posts. I won't be back until next Summer if you can believe that! Just where am I headed? Tomorrow I'm going back to Washington for the month of October to wrap up some loose ends and then I'm off to...Drum roll please...Thailand!

I spent a good bit of time in southern Thailand after I graduated university, about a year and a half to be exact. I fell in love with the place and have never really been able to shake it. When the opportunity recently arose to get my old job back what else could I do but jump on it. A compact six-month contract! How perfect is that? I'll get my Thailand fix, then head back to Austin, or at least that's how the story is currently written. As you may have noticed I tend to be all over the place, so it's highly likely this plan could change.

So what does this mean for my blog and the shop? Well I'd like to continue both. I'm clearing the shop out completely with the Travlin' On Sale and I'll restock on vintage goodies when I get to Bangkok. It'll probably be down for the first few weeks of November, but relaunched with completely new pieces. As for the blog, I'll keep on truckin'. Of course there will be changes and I'm curious to see the evolution it takes as my life changes.

Travelin' on Sale

September 21, 2010
And so the time has come for another move! This time however, it's a bit different. I won't just be packing up my Jeep and heading across the country, I'll be selling it and...Well I'll save that news for tomorrow. In the meantime, I wanted to let ya'll know I'm having a crazy crazy sale over in the shop. Tomorrow morning I'll be marking everything 50% off including sale items! That means everything will be 50%-70% off from tomorrow until everything is gone.

Vintage Clothing Sale

Stranger, Texas

On the visit to the grandparents last week, we decided to make a quick swing past the cemetery where my great aunt and uncle are buried. Armed with our to-go iced teas, we walked around for a few minutes checking out random tombs and wondering how we had never noticed the cemetery was actually sandwiched between two churches, not just one. I swear that second church just popped out of nowhere so of course I had to go investigate. Well boy did I feel a bit foolish when I found out the church was actually built in 1866, just a few years after the Civil War. Talk about overlooking something!

Now for a dress you may have seen on the blogs of a few fashionable vintage loving ladies...

When Quincy over at Q's Daydream sent me this Chain Letter Dress from Modcloth, I had some grand ideas for styling it up. The morning I slipped it on however, the heat had already gotten the best of me. I couldn't imagine wearing anything else so I just paired it with a simple pair of black wedges and a silver necklace my Granny made me in middle school.

Where is this cute little number headed next? Back up to the Northwest where I'll be headed soon, to Annie of Little Ocean Annie. I can't wait to see how she styles it with her growing baby bump!

a monday sneak peak

I'll be posting these lovelies in the shop throughout the day so have a look over there if you like what you see!

Hello Grandaddy

September 16, 2010
Finally a proper blog post for you! This morning my mom and I headed about an hour and half northeast of Austin for a little visit with my Grandaddy and Gigi. The town, like so many small Texas towns, is slowly dying as corporations root out the local businesses and folks continue to move into larger cities where jobs are more abundant. These days, though, things seem to be going downhill rather quickly. Let's take yesterday as an example. The water main busted and the entire town was left with no source of water until this morning.

Needless to say, lunching with Grandaddy always involves dining out and today was no exception. We headed over for catfish at the new truck stop slash restaurant one town over. That's my Grandaddy if you hadn't guessed! Looking rather annoyed I'm snapping photos over lunch.

My lovely mother. Although she may beg to differ about this photo...Sorry Mom but I thought it was cute!

Dried flowers that have been in my grandparent's kitchen just about as long as I can remember.

A sneak peak of tomorrow's back-on-track fashion post. Perhaps you've seen the dress on the blogs of a few other fashionable ladies...

One of the many quilts made by my great grandmother, Granny Ward. According to my mom, most of the pieces are snippets of family clothing as she never let anything go to waste.

Now to plan tomorrow's photos and estate sales with Mom...And then bedtime! It's been an utterly exhausting day! Goodnight ladies and gents. Sleep tight!

blouses galore

September 15, 2010
I promise tomorrow's post will not be a shop update! I hate to be a bore, but I've been getting so much work done the past few days and I just can't space it out. These lovely vintage blouses from the 70s and 80s will be up in the shop throughout the evening and tomorrow morning. Enjoy!

And Another

September 14, 2010
And another sneak preview for you ladies! These will be up in the shop this evening and tomorrow morning so stay tuned.

a bit of a post

September 13, 2010
Well hello ladies and gents! It's been a while I know, I'm still down south in Texas on a little holiday but today I thought I must do just a little bit of work. So here you are, a few random vintage lovelies I'll be posting in the shop throughout the day. Hope you love them!

High in the Sky

Vintage Car
This was me today. Albeit far less interesting, much more frustrating and minus the swanky car. Thank the lord I'm flying to Austin tomorrow and don't have to deal with the car for a bit! And on that note, I'll be high in the sky for most of tomorrow and then...AUSTIN! Happy weekend ladies and gents.

Charlotte Gainsbourg

September 2, 2010
First off I must mention how absolutely, positively horrendous the Salt Water Flush is. I would scream it from the mountaintops if I could. Last night I was horribly sick, more than I've been in quite some time. As I've fasted before on my own accord, I can confidently say what happened last night was not my body detoxing, but was in fact my body reacting quite badly to the flush. Enough said. Moving on. Never again!

On a separate and more blog related note, I wanted to share one of my fashion crushes, Charlotte Gainsbourg. Her style is effortlessly chic, bouncing back and forth between ultra casual and extraordinarily sexy. Somehow she throws on a pair of jeans and a tshirt, and lo and behold I want everything she has on. How is it so many French women are blessed with this gift?

Not only is Gainsbourg super stylish and quite talented in the acting realm, she's got a beautiful voice. My favorite off of 5:55, an album composed mostly by Air. I know quite a few of my recent posts have been music related, so I hope you're not getting sick of it.
